The breaking of barriers… the unlocking of potential… the silent cry of special needs students everywhere… Don’t Count Us Out! is the story of how Laketa Dumas launched her curriculum “R U Ready 4 BIZness?” at Charles Drew Transition Center at Detroit Public School in 2012. The documentary outlines the journey of thirteen special needs students who rose above their labels and dared to break free from societal barriers. Never before had these students been exposed to entrepreneurship. Now they are learning how to start and run their own businesses and proudly proclaim, Don’t Count Us Out!
